This is Nyotee Kweshema of the Datoga Tribe in Tanzania. She is part of an extensive series of portraits I’m working on of indigenous tribes in Tanzania. She is probably in her seventies, and I think she is beautiful and would turn heads wherever she lived. I remember she just walked onto our makeshift set, and just sat like this, with no direction from me. So regal. I loved her.
Thanks so much to Tyler Northrup for all his friendship and support, and to Peter Jones of Tanganyika Film & Safari Outfitters in Tanzania for all his expertise, experience and friendship. I couldn’t imagine doing this trip without them. Asante sana.
