My dad and I were out driving around and stumbled across this really cool harbor in Sneads Ferry, an old fishing village on the banks of the New River in North Carolina. I couldn't get it out of my head, so I drove back up the other day to talk to them about doing a shoot.
As luck would have it, while we were talking, one of their big shrimp boats that had been out for the past 4 days came in and docked. I hung out with these guys all afternoon, talking, drinking beer, and taking pictures as they unloaded over 5,000 pounds of shrimp. It was a great day and they were all really nice people. They invited me to go out on the boat with them sometime, and while it might not be until next season because of my schedule, I am definitely going to take them up on it.
At the end of the day when I was packing up my gear, I turned around and there was a basket full of shrimp and fish sitting on the dock. Little Man (the guy in the High Life shirt) said, "Give me a minute and I'll throw that on ice for you to take home." We steamed the shrimp about an hour later, and they were hands down the best I've ever had. Looking forward to getting back out there, and I definitely know where we'll be getting our seafood from now on. Always fun having unique experiences with good people.
